146: Give It Away Now

This weekend I'm taking on the daunting task of totally emptying out my old room at my parents' house. Seems they have plans for that space and they don't include housing all of my precious cargo. Harumph. So much like that one remodeling show I saw that one day on that one channel sometime, I need to make 4 piles of stuff.

First pile: Stuff to sell. Easy to send. Things of apparent worth that I have no use for any more. Expect ebay to explode very soon.

Second pile: Stuff to give away. Specifically old clothes and stereo components. Wires and adaptors and extension cords. Right to a Salvation Army. People could use this stuff.

Third pile: Stuff to throw away. Garbage that no one would ever want.

Fourth pile: Stuff to keep. Old important photos, mementos, etc.

But I have this idea. I always come up with these messed up schemes and by the end, i'm sick of em and looking to start new ones. But this is interesting. During the month of October, I will give something away every day. It might be good. It might be bad. It might be the worst idea i've ever had. But by November 1, i'll have 31 less items in my room to worry about. It just makes me giddy.

I'm going to open it up to the Threadless community as well. I have only 2 days to think about this. Better get cracking.

145: Go Jerricho (Cotchery)!

It's amazing how the days just FLY by. I can't believe it's been this long since I've been here writing it up. It's not like there has been little to write about. Quite the opposite. It's just that when you have so much to do, you have very little time to think about it, much less think about writing about it. Or write about thinking about writing it. Plus, there's fantasy football to worry about as well.

It's quite appropriate that the biggest trash talker ends up 0-2. I blame all of the sports writers that gave me bunk advice. Specifically about Lamont Jordan. I can't pay anyone enough to take him off of my hands. The hands of a real loser. It's also sort of ironic that the only two 2-0 teams are managed by the only two girls in our league. Sure, they talk about not really caring, etc, but they must have done a heck of a lot of research to score such a massive amount of points. It's all part of their game...

I got a voicemail message the other day from Mr. Ham On The Street himself, George Duran, thanking me for the shirts! The very next day, we received a box full of Ham shirts, each in a cute little package shaped like a ham. I'm not opening mine. It's just too cute. The inside of the box also smelled a bit like ham. Not kidding.

I'm sure most everyone has seen that new Weird Al video, "White and Nerdy." I have to admit, it's pretty gosh darn funny. And i'm no fan. And guess what? Around 30 seconds in, he's playing D & D with a guy wearing a Threadless shirt! Pretty cool. Perhaps I should try and track him down. Send him some more stuff for future videos.

I blame my girlfriend for getting me hooked on Project Runway and America's Next Top Model and tonight, we have both to deal with. I wish I had DVR. I wish I had enough monkeys to buy that new 80 GB iPod. EIGHTY gigs. Dios mio, the capacity! Also, tonight, I'm actually going to buckle down and write that piece I need to finish for the Revolution On Canvas 2 book. I had a really lengthy essay get eaten by my computer a few weeks ago. I think I'm through mourning. It's time to get back into the ring.

I have a crazy weekend ahead. Friday I night, I'll be driving to Champaign for a show at the Iron Post. Then I head to Detroit, pick up my girlfriend, and drive to Cleveland for Mr. Mike Shumaker's wedding! Sunday, I have to juggle finding football on the radio with driving back to Chicago from Cleveland with a possible stop at America's Roller Coast, Cedar Point. I'm sure I'll also be juggling somewhat of a hangover?

Seriously, is this anyone else's first season of fantasy football? Do you dream about it? I have a probem. I don't dream of actual plays or actual players. I fucking dream about that damn roster. The actual list on Yahoo. Gah!

I went to the Austin City Limits fest last weekend! What a gas! What a hot tamale! On Friday, I watched Paolo Nutini, Ted Leo, Guster, Stars, Gnarls Barkley, Okkervil River, Cat Power, Thievery Corporation, and Van Morrison. Saturday was Murder By Death, Phoenix, Ben Kweller, TV On The Radio, The Long Winters, Aimee Mann, & Iron and Wine. Sunday, I only saw Anathallo & The Black Angels. It was rainy. The rest of the day, I was glued to Yahoo stat tracker. I like it just as much as you don't.

144: Interesting Drug

With my new position here at work comes increased responsibility and some intense research. For instance, if I receive a sponsorship request from an online puppet sitcom, then goshdarnit, as noted in my job description, i better download and watch an online puppet sitcom. On the surface, though, and out of context, any passerby to my desk just sees me watching some sort of puppet show instead of doing any work. I need to print out a sign that i can easily display that says Believe It Or Not, I Am Actually Doing Work. And i'd leave it up for when I blog. I'm getting distracted.

And nothing wants to work today.

I posted that big fantasy football blog over at the skinnyCorp site.

And also, I fucking hate it about myself that it's so hard to remember people's names. My memory used to be so good. Maybe I should look into a book or instructional video that can help. To Netflix!

I'm back from Netflix. Didn't find anything in the "how-to" section... But I did find Advanced Metal Riffs And Arpeggios. Add to queue.
