149: Ten Essential
I was surprised / excited / flattered to see the "Ten Essential" section in the back of this month's Alternative Press. I really had no idea. Apparently they had contacted someone here to secure the permission to use the shirt artwork, but no one even told me about it. So it was a total shock.

It's perfect timing since I'm heading to Seattle next month to re-record a bunch of the songs for a 2007 CD release. I'll be spending a week or so at Matt Bayles & Chris Common's Red Room. Woohoo! The double CD will probably have 30-60 songs and feature re-recordings, re-workings, and some other fun stuff. It will be released on Redder Records.

I've been seriously busy doing all of the songs for the most recent holiday sale. Hence, my recent absence. And you remember how I was going to sell / giveaway a lot of stuff in October? Well, I ended up giving a lot of it away as prizes. I also took some initiative to just straight up throw stuff in the dumpster. Sadly, by the looks of my room, you would barely be able to tell. Sigh. It's quite possible I've amassed just enough junk in the past two months to fill the recent void. For instance, I just received a large secret santa box full of gifts. Fun gifts. Gifts I can't just throw away. So... I know have a sea monkey tank on my desk here at work. I had to give it a shot.
Speaking of the holiday songs, here they are for your convenient downloading pleasure. They're all different, lyrically, instrumentally, and structurally, so if you want to drive yourself crazy, have at em.

now my ears are ringing
fridge is a' buzzing
is that a' housewife
giving me a' headache
outlook a' bleaking
cofee must be working
heart is a' beating
bob is repeating
how is that happening
future is clearly
all worked out for me
i know what will be
looping endlessly
my friends a'fleeting
i'll keep repeating
till i am lonely
and there is only
one option for me
oh yeah you called it
out of my wallet
credit card a'crawling
modem is squealing
jingles convincing
order form submitting
mailman approaching
package exchanging
loud tape is ripping
how life affirming
homies will be drooling
joey will be ruling
in his new crop of ten buck tees!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(and bob nanna jingle induced schizophrenia)
i can't wait until you actually get back to writing real songs.
my work sea monkeys died after a couple of months. i think i need new ones though -- i'm convinced people kept spilling them and then adding water so that i didn't know...
hey bob-o,
looking forward to the new c.d. and an 18th version of wish i were wine drunk. seriously though, it's really good news to hear there's more CoF on the way. also, i think it would be in our best interest (you, mike, and me) if you and owen released a collaboration e.p. where you cover some of his songs and he covers some of your songs. i'm telling you, this idea is gold! i think it wouldn't take that much effort out of you two. please consider it. also, as long as you're in washington, you should come take a drive through oregon's wine country. the best pinot's in the land.
Happy New Year.
Pessimistic Or Optmistic is probably my fave jingle of them all.
It's nice that Katie and I were named dropped in 'Empire', I remember that week like it was yesterday.
Bob, also good to see some Buffalo Tom making your recent favorites. Glad to know some of that rubbed off on you in the van (dime?). I've got everything they've ever put out if you need some more!
