Turntable: No Knife: Fire In The City Of Automatons

I slept like a log in my own bed last night. Logs dont move and barely breathe. That was me, it was nice. Bob and I drove all day yesterday home from Nashville. The City On Film rough mixes are sounding real good, can't wait to get it finished and out for all of you to hear. Weird, I kind of miss Nashville, Common and CC.

I just couldnt stay up to watch Ted Leo on Conan last night, I was way too tired. Any one got a video link handy?

If you are bored, its fun just to peruse the auctions Universal is doing for the Tsunami relief. Who wouldnt want to go to the Osbournes house and have a meal with Sharon? Many more weird and semi-valuable things people are paying way to much for, I guess it is a benefit for a good cause, which makes it alright. Check them out here. I've bought records from UNI before, they're reliable and fast and still press a lot of vinyl for a major label, which is impressive. Plus, you got to give them props for keeping amazing stuff like this in print. Booyah.

Robert:

Actually it snowed here today!

As soon as I get home (Saturday), i'm going to start working on a City On Film / Owen UK tour for July. If you book shows there or have some helpful info, please drop me a line! If you've already contacted me, thanks again... i'll get back to everyone next week.

The City On Film record is very close to completion. It will be 11 songs and some versions of them have been released before in much shoddier formats. Instead of releasing a compilation of all of the old out-of-print material, i'm re-doing it all and giving it the grand treatment. Full band, drums, lotsa guitars, strings, and i'm sure you saw this picture. The songs are: Anticlimactic, Blue Vegas, Portland Maine and the Pouring Rain, For Holly, I'd Rather Be Wine Drunk, Forgiveness, Trials, How a Helicopter Sounds, All the Wrong Notes, Lost My Lights, Number 11... I've also recorded a special secret exclusive bonus track that you'll learn about later. Phew. We've been busy.

The album will be called "In Formal Introduction" and even though The City On Film has been in existence for damn near 6 years, it will be the debut LP. It will be available on LP/CD on Grand Theft Autumn recordings in June. Since Todd is a record collector junkie, there will most certainly be some limited colored vinyl. A release date has not been set yet.

In other news, i'm really enjoying Of Montreal lately.

AND i'm playing a show in Dekalb, IL on March 3rd at The Rodeo, so hopefully you can make it out! It will be fun. And funky. No trombone, though.

Thanks for all the photos coming my way. Appreciate it. Unfortunately hotmail is giving me the business about downloading attatchments. When I click to download, it pushes me to the hotmail passport login page. Kicks me right outta hotmail. Whats up with that? Anyone else having this problem? I'm cursed tech-wise its official. How can I fix this?

I got a few things up on ebay over there to your left, and I swear those purses are'nt mine. Really.

I just blogged over at GTA and posted a few photos from yesterday in the studio if you want to see. You know where to go.

Hey kids! I vaguely remember a lot of you message boarders posting photos of Hey Mercedes awhile back, it was like 'post your HM photos' or something and everyone complied and there was many cool pics. I'm interested in getting a handful printed just to have for myself. There was one specifically of me standing next to my amp and someone saying my amp was bigger than me or something. A really great photo. Any love? Post comments, links, or email me directly with any outstanding favorites. Sweeht.

For a short update and a funny photo, check todays City On Film blog on the GTA site.

Whats Mike been up to? Have not seen him blogging over here in awhile. I keep hearing about this new traveling sideshow project of his? What up?

Manic Monday. I did a little record shopping today and highly recommend two stores in Nashville. Grimeys and The Great Escape. I found decent stuff at both, but enjoyed the atmosphere and used selection of The Great Escape a bit more. I also hit Phonoluxe which was a waste of time and a bit overpriced for my tastes. Any other suggestions, comment right here on this blog and i'll see it, make it quick i'll only be here a few more days!

I've posted a new blog and a few photos over on the GTA site, check it out of you are curious of our progress on The City On Film record.

We've been so busy its hard to believe we've been here 4 days. I'm not terribly homesick, but ocassionally I do miss the persistent nagging of Fatty Arbuckle and Mr. Burns.
