064 The State of The iPod Address
It's not good. However, I think I know what the problem is. It's this damn Firewire cord. Perhaps through years of neglect and willy-nilly wrapjobs, it has finally bitten the dust. What does this mean for us? Well it means I have to get a new one and you'll just have to listen to these awesome songs that are vacationing off-iPod and on-iTunes. Damn, i have a lot of posters to send out...
"Strawberry Blonde" was my introduction to Ron Sexsmith, and so it probably shall be yours. I was hooked by the simple little story line, his fragile yet expressive voice, that catchy line of a refrain, and especially the last lyric. Hopefully you dig it and dive in for more. He has at least 25 great songs. When will America wake up and embrace this Canadian artist? Well I guess we're all doing our little part since I'm going to have to cover this song in the months to come... And ditto for "Void." Old Ramon was the album that hooked me for Red House Painters. I know, I know, I was a latecomer. I was a holdout. But songs like "Void" and "Cruiser" just couldn't be ignored when I had them on in the background.

I love that Sexsmith song but my favorite of his is 'Secret Heart' from the first record. Rod Stewart even covered it!

i just bought my first iPod last night. I'm going to treat these little cords with great respect! hopefully yours is easily fixable bob.
and, the new mp3 really rules. i remember that song from a long time ago when i saw you do a solo show (i think in Normal, Il)...at that record store? you've been playing the song for a while, right?
i don't know, i think my favorite ron sexsmith song will always be gold in them hills, even with chris martin chipping in on it.

Red House Painters are such an amazing band. I've been tempted a few times over the last year or so to catch one of these Mark Kozelek solo shows but they're always so expensive. Recently received a copy of a 7" that was supposedly limited to 500 copies.
For some reason the Sun Kil Moon album didn't hit it off with me as much as stuff like 'songs for a blue guitar' and 'old ramon'. Haven't ever bought any of Mark's solo stuff, will do one day.

I love sexmsith, scene him play in halifax twice, amazing, met him once at a record store. He did a cover of "songbird" by fleetwood mac, on a grand piano at the rebcca cohn auditorium, it was so amazing.
