TBELL: Providence. Good show at Lupos. saw International Noise Conspiracy on Crag Kilbourn. Is this my world? What is it coming too? It's weird I tell yah. If any of my cats are reading this.. stay away from the fish and off my records!! August 14, 2002
TBELL: Alright alright... I'm slacking on the blog but I've been busy.. we are now clear across the country in Washington DC. Yup, playing the amazing 9:30 club tonight. Whats been going on since my last post? Recap: Played about ten shows shows, partied in New Orleans, had a day off or two, had a birthday, sweat alot in the south, Schatzi left the tour, Rocking Horse Winner and The Remedy Session played the Florida dates, Piebald is back on the tour as of our amazing Cat's Cradle show last night in NC. Wen't to the Vans outlet and bought yet another pair of shoes (to Bob's dismay), hung out with my friends Heather and Brian in Orlando, won some stuff on Ebay and had it sent home, ate good vegan chicken curry, avoided sharks, watched Chuff shave his beard off and grow it back in full within two days, listened to alot of records, bought records, rolled a 139 in bowling on a day off, and spent alot of time on the bus.. Thats about it, there is stuff I left out for blurry reasons or forgetfullness (is that a word?), I'm sure. I'm looking forward to getting home for a bit. That'll change after I'm home for about four days and then the road will be calling. I miss my cats and bed. The fish too. More later. Late. August 12, 2002
Robert: Wow, I feel like I've been out of commission for awhile. Could it possibly that I've been hiding out since way back when in Bakersfield? Well, nonetheless, here I am in Chapel Hill - all the way across the country. A day off. In the back of the big bad, listening to the remarkable new Kind of Like Spitting CD, feeling the urge to clean, to do laundry, to cut my hair... OK, so here's some quick takes of the last few weeks, in several installments: * After Bakersfield, we shipped off to that lovely city of sin, Las Vegas. But specifically Henderson, that lovely suburb of sin with that one big casino that just happened to be across the street from our hotel. Perhaps it was the anguish of last visit's $40 loss of nickels that was manifesting itself as a sore throat, but I spent most of the day moping around and sleeping. Perhaps it was my drunken performance the night before? Nah... I managed to see some family which was nice - they brought us a wholesome barrelful of veggie sandwiches. Since it was a little too close to showtime, I couldn't touch em. Plus, the club provided us a similar wholesome barrelful of veggie and vegan enchiladas... Couldn't touch them either, so I made myself a little plate of happiness and stored it away in the bunk until after the show... Isn't that always the way it goes - you either have too much free food or you have zero food and you're completely broke. Boo hoo for Bob... The club is appropriately named The Castle. And the show was great. Afterwards, I ate the enchiladas, a veggie slice, and then packaged up the rest knowing full well that there was no way the food would be eaten before things went sour... I have this phobia sorta about reheating food. It never ever tastes the same. * Went right to sleep. Woke up in San Diego with an amazing idea that involved Polaroids. So I walked to a nearby Target only to be shocked by the lack of supplies. My plot foiled, I opted to buy some Velcro tape. Note: recall how packing for tour is just an intricate series of zipper bags? Well, when traveling on a bus, it becomes an even more complex array of Velcro tape. Everything in its right place... The show at the Epicentre was amazing. One of the best so far. The crowd was even a little too active! I also met the second of FIVE dads who came to the show with their children. Times have changed! My dad wouldn't be caught incognito within a 10 block radius of loud rock music. And then we did the fun hanging out thing, complete with my new iPod playlist: Dance Party USA. (more tour stories coming soon... hey, i'm only 15 days behind.) I am so mad at Cingular Wireless. My phone just doesn't want to work in certain cities. On the shitlist: Scottsdale, Tallahassee, Tampa, and now Chapel Hill. Bogus, people. Bogus. How annoying is it to constantly get voice mail messages that you can't check? I bought a bunch of postcards. They are rotting blank in my backpack. There are tour plans a-brewing for October/November. All I can say is that we WILL see you again very soon. Perhaps we'll rock some of our new tracks. |
