Drove all darn day. Finally arrived in Dallas late this evening. Took a swim after pool time, ate at Denny's and now i'm bloggin' real quick before lights out. Mike Myers is on Leno. See you tomorrow.

Ryan Snyder:

My little site has been feeling neglected recently so I kicked a quick blog here just to give it some love.

My CD burner is still broken, but I found the Missing Foundation website! As I suspected, most of their music is out of print and impossible to find, but at least the legend can grow thanks to the mighty internet.

Another inspiring note in this whole nostalgic trip is that frontman Pete Missing is not a stockbroker, but an artist living in Berlin, Germany. Here's his website. It's always been my contention that anyone who is brilliant enough to create the Missing Foundation "Party's Over" logo (click on the above MF link to see it) was most likely a genius visual artist as well, since that logo alone captured the imagination of the entire city in the late 1980s. I can still stare at it for ages: so direct and meaningful, but at the same time menacing and abrasive. It says on the website that the logo will most likely outlive the actual band, and I think they have a point there. I'm already planning on taping a version of it to the grill of my guitar cabinets this summer in Europe--not as an homage to the band by any means, really, but as a sign of support toward the anti-corporate message that sometimes got lost in the self-immolation. I'd invite Pete to the Berlin show, but I doubt he'd see the continuum between his work and mine. But it's there.

Where have I been?
I can answer that. Las Mother-Grabbin' Vegas! The one day trip lived up to my expectations as Todd and I got to hit up the strip with the Piebald and Audio Learning Center boys post show. After several cocktails and a few hands at the blackjack table I decided to cut my $15 loss and stop gambling. Piebald however upped the ante and decided to go all out and place a $500 bet on black at the roulette table. We all crowded around and after a quick confirmation with the pit boss concerning the bet the wheel went a spinning. We all held our breathe in anticipation with hands in the air, hopping for the best. The wheel slowed and the ball bounced in and out from red to black and back again until it came to a stop on.....red. Everyone let out yells of dissapointment and it was quite a moment. I gotta hand it to them, that was one gutsy move. Had lady luck been on their side at the moment they could have had a $1000 in their pocket, but it was not meant to be. You'll get em' next time boys!
