Robert: Yikes, all of these game challenges. Unfortunately, I'm probably not going to be on games.com much while i'm on tour. I can only connect when we're at a club or a hotel, and even then, there is 8 of us on the road who all need to use this one little laptop for emailing and blogging and the sort... Speaking of the blog, I have extended invitations to two people here with us so we'll see if they take the bait. Somebody over at Kevin Smith's site likes that Friction reissue. We're cruising along at top speed towards Freeport, IL. It's the only place on the tour that I have never been to, and for that reason, I'm excited. Hope the show goes well. Last night's show in Minneapolis was a blast. I was in a great mood the whole night, and all of the bands sounded right on. We apologize for making all of them travel great distances to be there. Piebald drove 24 hours straight from Boston. Audio Learning Center came from Portland (i think) and Koufax drove from Detroit. Norm - you have free reign to promote / plug / encourage / discourage anything you like here. Keep it up! And the new Koufax record is amazing. Damn right, Apple should pay me. Look! New tour dates! Norman: First of all, Bob, I knew you'd love Netflix. It was practically made for you. I'm sorry we didn't hook up again in California. Things are nice. I can relate to the idea of being psyched to go on tour. For the first time in a long, long, long time, I am psyched. European tour dates for the band are posted up at Jade Tree and West Coast dates are to follow from Flower. Is this a non-Hey Mercedes commercial? Can I do that here? Can I influence American kids who want to rock out at the Summer Vacation 2002 tour to fly to Weeze, Germany to see us at the Bizarre Festival instead? Only time will tell. One last thing, Bob. Apple should pay you. Everytime I read this page I want to blow my credit on an iPod, dammit.
Robert: Overcast days never turn me on, but something about the clouds and her mix. It's a beautiful overcast day here in Milwaukee. Damon just offered me jellybeans. Aphex Twin is playing from the Pod. The air conditioner is running. All of my bags are packed and neatly arranged in his living room. Bix is outside smoking. And I am inside blogging. Words cannot describe how excited I am to go on tour. Holy hog heaven. Hey Babarebop. Goodnight nurse! I've recently uncovered a few exciting treasures. Some lost booty to make one's life a little more interesting, at least for a week or two. A quick, but exciting fix... Firstly, there is a wealth of iPod a-hacking that has been done and laid out neatly for my personal pleasure. The Human Torch sent out the alert, and today I perused the goods. Did you know that you can use your iPod as a remote control for a TV? A database for phone numbers, contacts, directions, news articles? You can even throw a little screensaver on that bad boy. It's a bad bad boy. Now if only my little wussy G4 can handle the extra programmage. C'mon boy you can do it. I'm also kicking around the idea of selling my fully packed 5 GB iPod to offset the cost of purchasing a twice-as-fun 10 GB one. The bidding starts at $1.50, no reserve! OOP! Mint! - please no offers just yet. Ninthly, there may be a Steely Dan-themed restaurant in Chicago, but I have no confirmation of this. It's an unsubstantiated rumor. Twenty-fifthy, I just found out that the Embrace re-issue / re-mix / re-master has been released and it sounds incredible. It's about time. "Dance of Days" always sounded so terribly weak when put on mix tapes or CDs. Now it has the volume, the heaviness, the umph that is deserves. Hallelujah. Now if I could only find a remaster of Dear You that will make it a little quieter... Speaking of remastering, Mike recently purchased AC/DC's Highway to Hell remaster. He's under the impression that some remaster jobs actually take precious quality away from the original recording. I'm still waiting to hear his verdict. Lastly, Netflix. What a great idea. An online DVD rental service. Unfortunately I am a sucker for word-of-mouth deals. Heck, in the past I maybe have rented 5 DVDs per year. But now I've just received 3 in the mail and another 3 are waiting in the queue. Who cares. We'll have plenty of entertaiment at the ready on the big guy. More to come on that. My entire tour packing system is really just an intricate system of Ziplocs. And I must make public my outrage at Damon for not keeping his house fully stocked. I needed a fresh new Ziploc to house spent Polaroids and he failed the test. Nary a Ziploc to be found in this godforsaken place. He wins a few points back for having a handy plastic bag dispenser under his sink, but not that many. Not enough to quell my growing disgust. Ugh. The more I think about Damon not having Ziplocs, the more my stomach churns. I'll blog more often. Mark my words, everyone will know the wine tally, the Scrabble tally, and the Encore (new game I picked up at a Cali thrift store!) tally. I'll also be doing a daily photo journal on massivewasteoftime.com. it starts this week... |
