52 Kiss the Bottle - Jawbreaker
53 Sally Maclennane - The Pogues

I got something real good brewing to hold you over until I get around to recording more covers! It starts on Monday.

Why do I constantly think I'm sick?

Norm - that's an amazing story... we'll chat more about it tonight. I'll also fork over your long overdue security deposit.

Dashboard + Rival Schools + Seville + New End Original + neighbor's party upstairs (it's already going - they're blasting "don't stop till you get enough") = fun fun fun.

Norman:

Sitting in Noblesville, Indiana right now. Tonight is the last show of this leg of New End's US tour, and to be honest, I'm a bit excited. One, because I'm dying to sleep in my bed and, two, because the show is in Chicago--a city I once called home. Besides reuniting with HM for some fun, our friends in Rival Schools are playing an early show across town at Metro with Dashboard, which works out perfect for anyone who cares to catch both shows.

Weird things: Our van was broken into in Buffalo. It was the first time, in over ten years of touring, that I've ever had a van broken into. We think the alarm freaked them out, because all they took was Jonah's clothes bag--which, apparently, was uninteresting enough for them to abandon on somebody's porch nearby fully intact. We spent an unanticipated $300 reparing and replacing the passenger window before leaving to Dayton, but everything was forgotten once we got there. If you're in a band on tour, the El Diablo is quite the venue and the guys who run it are stand-up folks who care about the music. We'll plan to be back soon.

Soundtrack for the ride home:

Lowgold - Just Backward Of Square
Aphex Twin - Drucqs
Bjork - Vespertine
Ennio Morricone - The Legend Of 1900 OST

Oh, man. I can't wait to get back to Oakland.

Where have all of the bloggers been? I think everyone is exhausted and busy trying to tie up lose ends before leaving again for a month. I've only been home for four days! Ugh.. leaving again on Tuesday to drive all of the way out to Maine. Tour tour!

Saw Wonder Boys last night. Not bad. Kinda liked it. Tobey Maguire is really good and getting better and better. Can't wait to see him as Peter Parker. Yeah!

More later, time to get more coffee and schedule for a haircut.. mohawks are still in right?

54 Nightmares by the Sea - Jeff Buckley

stay.... with me.... under these waves tonight...

Kitten chewing on the phone line. Bloomington, IL. A large hot room. And nerves buzzing.

TBELL:

Looks like the blog's been down for a little bit this morning, not sure what’s going on.. my computer has been freaking out lately too. It’s pretty old. Sometimes I feel like I should just break down and buy something more portable and updated. Ugh.

There is a review up of the record here, from the same folks at Fiction Funhouse that interviewed Bob and I earlier this year. That email interview is still up too, and linkable from the review. Check it out!

Also, there is another Hey Mercedes contest a brewing at the semtex website. All you got to do is sign up and you can win a free CD, if you got one already, sign up anyways and give it to a friend if you win. No questions or dumb trivia involved! Obviously, we had little to do with this contest, eh?

Yo Norm, if you're still out there on tour with Burning Airlines.. get J to chime in..

It's been awhile since we've seen him around the blog lately. Hugs to you and the New End Originals. Hope all is well..

Finally home! Just got back from returning the rental vans with Damon.. we arrived safely back in Milwaukee late last night after driving all the way home from Pittsburgh. While returning the van this morning, brought a long a copy of this on cassette to make the ride a little more withstandable (Is that a word? It should be.). A good soundtrack for the ride, lots of nostalgia wrapped up in that record for me.

Trying to break-in my new Vans, going to try to wear them around the house all day and get them worn in before the next tour starts.. that gives me a solid week..

Listening to Kid A. Seems to be fitting for a coffee stomach and an overcast day. It's time to sort through some email, more later.

Robert:

55 King Leer - Morrissey
56 Everybody Here Wants You - Jeff Buckley
57 All Gone, All Gone - Palace
58 Confetti - The Lemonheads

All I need is a miracle... all i need is you...

That is the song on the radio right now. It's 1:46 PM and we're barrelling down the Ohio Turnpike. We're headed home. The tour was just incredible! We had an amazing time with Jonah, Norm, Scoots, and Charlie (and Myra!) - From all of us to all of you, you're the best - we miss you - good luck - and tell everyone in Europe that we'll be there soon enough!

Congratulations to Jamie Bestwick! We hear that he nabbed a gold medal at BMX vert while some Hey Mercedes was playing! Thank you so much, sir. If you read this, email us so we can congratulate you in person (so to speak) and trade you some shirts for some bikes! Just kidding. Anyway, we got tons of emails about it and we wanted to make it public. It's a good feeling, having our network TV debut be during a medal winning run. Maybe we should look into a February Salt Lake City appearance!

It's good to be home, albeit for only 5 days. Lots of work to be done! The least of which is the completion and upload-ation of the top 100 covers... hence Attention! - In the interest of space and time (it's near impossible to learn, record, mix, and upload 30 songs within the next 5 days) I'm going to put the covers on hold. I'll have from 100-50 up all month, and then when I'm finished, I'll unveil songs 50-1... I'll still count em down, of course... So now you'll know the songs I'll have to cover...

And now to work! ...so to speak...

I feel like crap.. !

Norman:

It's been two shows since DC and I miss Hey Mercedes. Good for us that Burning Airlines are on board now, though. If anything, we've been spoilt for choice with such talent on this tour.

Todd wasn't kidding about DC. The show felt monstrous and everyone I talked to seemed to think both New End and HM were high on fire. It was a really beautiful thing. We played my hometown of New York City with BA the next night, and to be brutally honest, I felt a bit cold by it. Maybe I was building up a wonderful homecoming show in my head with flower petals and birthday hats and Kazoo from the Flinstones hanging out in the VIP section, and maybe I was being a bit unrealistic of it all. It was a "good" show. Not much more or less. Maybe we can get Kazoo in on the list next time?

I stayed up for most of the night. Burning Airlines took Naht to Mercury Lounge for a drink; my friend Brian and I went along for the ride. Mike D. ("Best looking boys go all the way!"), came down, fresh from his tour managing gig with Dashboard Confessional, who also played the city that night. We ended up chatting til late. Brian and I headed over to Nino's on St. Marks and Avenue A for some 3AM pizza, and dammit, its as good as I remembered. I lost my vegan diet there a few years back. Brutal.

New End is in Boston tonight. I'm at my friend Ryan's house waiting to drink some tea. I keep thinking Damon is going to pop in with his Slipknot mask, but alas, nothing. Onward to West Chester, Pennsylvania.

Back late. Watching the Other Sister on TV. You know i love me some Giovanni Ribisi...

The DC show was a total blast. Thanks for being apart of it, those who where. It was sad to see NEW END ORIGINAL go.. but hey, we'll be home in a few days and plan on going out to see them at the Fireside Bowl in Chicago on the 10th of November.
