178 Little Light - Jets to Brazil

Bloody work? Oh yeah, I forgot you got that job as assistant surgeon! Good luck in the OR today! Remember, it's just a dayjob. It will all be over soon enough... Strike 2 on the mp3s.

Todd:

First one to blog! First one to blog! I win!

Now off to bloody work.. Ugh!

July 6, 2001
Robert:

If all goes well, there will be 2 MP3s from the new album on our website tonight. Let's all hope everything goes well.

And there you have it. I am so excited about touring, I can't even type anymore. Shakes.

dan:

I tell ya..you try to help someone out from getting really messed up with leaving their wallet or purse laying around and then the old bag comes back in the store and accuses me of opening her purse and taking a twenty out..
ob- did you open the purse
dan- no
ob- because their was a twenty in there
dan- I didn't open your purse and take your twenty
ob- [standing in door looking stupified]
dan- And I'm slightly offended
then she walks out, I'm like what the hell..maybe if you look harder you'll find where your old bitch ass misplaced it or spent it on ensure or metamucile..ok I'm calm..went to jazz in the park last night..got there at 4pm and stayed till 9 when it ended..then went to taylors and ran into prime sth..nice fellas I only chatted it up with jspr i think thats what his name was..my buddy kelly went up to one of them and asked if he was a hair dresser..I thought that was a good one..they did have good hair though..so they're playing at bummerfest tonight at 8 and I have a free ticket and nothing better to do..[never heard the band].. I need a break from the house anywho..

Robert:

Last night, while flipping through stations, partaking in Radio Roulette, moving furniture to my new castle, I happened to catch an interview in progress with The Stryder. It was kind of a non-interview, actually. More of just them playing some requests. In regards to their band, they played one song that I didn't like and one song that Iiked. If I was able to, I may have gone to see them tonight at the Fireside... What was really amazing was this other song they played. During the whole thing, I was intrigued and interested to find out who it was. Goodness me, it was Hot Rod Circuit. We're gonna have some fun. Get ready, gang.

No one seemed to catch my hidden link within the past few days. For shame. What a missed scoop.

Why can't every work week be like this one? More to come...

179 Under Pressure - Queen & David Bowie

How do I love thee, apartment. Let me count the ways...

Robert:

I now have a name to my anger. And that name is Alien Ant Farm.

Robert:

I know you'll all be happy to know that I finally made the big bed purchase. I even contructed the thing with little injury to myself and others! And I even slept on it last night. Although i have to say, it's not the most comfortable thing without a mattress. Ha. The mattress doesn't come in until Sunday... It's OK. I can wait. I've waited long enough.

While I was pounding nails into the wood frame and my leg, I was listening to WXRT's live broadcast of the Wilco show from the Petrillo Music Shell in Grant Park. Woohoo, it sounded amazing. I wish I could have been there, but I just didn't have the time or energy to attend. They played a great set, though, including personal faves, "A Shot in the Arm" and "California Stars." The latter has been in my head ever since. Were you there?

I am in love with my new apartment. Specifically, the greatest amenity on earth (or at least in Chicago), the rooftop deck. And what better night to spend out on the roof, kicking back with a bottle of Merlot and company? You guessed it, July 4th. It was incredible. Every direction had it's own stupendous fireworks show! From 9 till 11 it just did not stop! The skyline in the background, a near full moon above, a beautiful evening. Can't wait until next year. In fact, we've already made tentative plans for a big bad bash at the pad. I'll be sure to pick up a booty of dangerous explosives sometime in the next year just for the occasion.

Horseradish mustard on hash browns?

Our tour plans are slowly but surely solidifying for September. I suppose I can tell you now that we will be dropping off the last two shows of the Vagrant America tour in order to meet a different tour in a different part of the country. I figure I'll drop the inside info before too many folks ask about it. It's all being smoothed out as we speak... The point is: we WILL get to Atlanta, Virginia, North Carolina... sometime before the end of the year. It is a top priority. I can tell you that our September tour will cover most of the northeast, but that's really all i can say.

Who the hell is responsible for the horrible cover of the horrible Michael Jackson song "Smooth Criminal"? I swear, when I heard this song on the radio two nights ago, I went into a mad rage. I started yelling at the radio. I gave it the old middle finger a few times, too. It didn't work. The song still kept going. Who is responsible, so I can launch my full scale retort on this trashola?

Mr Foyt: It's a good thing, too, cause I am like a wild boar when i lose my temper.
Beauty: I love wild boars.

Todd:

What's the deal? I blogged yesterday too. FU Blogger.

My punishment has arrived, time for the chair..

Dan = flask.

I had this weird dream this morning, maybe it's because I slept so late. I was escaping from a prison and being chased, I had a good lead though ('Oh Brother where Art Thou' style) and was being chased by the typical pack-of-dogs and guys with guns routine. Also, 2 guys ahead of that crew, a detective and a hired-gun tracker-type guy who knew matrix/crouching tiger.. kind of stuff.. And yes, we did fight at one point in the dream. Pretty funny now that I think about it. I ran into my friend Young Pete from Milwaukee outside a movie theater somewhere on the east coast and let him know I was on the run across country, at this point I was pretty far away from my jailbreak. He was helping me get money from an ATM to aid me in my journey. He advised loaning me the money instead of me using my ATM card, so my location getting money could'nt be traced, since I was an outlaw on the run and all.. The dream fissles out around there though..

Well enough jibber-jabber fools. Gotta get some biz done. wheres Murdock?

Robert:

Dynamo. That's what I've been this morning. TCB.

What gives? Everyone is leaving their jobs early today, yet i'm stuck here like a sucker. I should just leave. I'll tell the boss that you said it was OK. She'll then turn and ask, "Who's that?" And she'll see my outline in the distance, running towards the door, giggling.

Nothing big to speak of today... yet.

dan:

Whatap everybody. Just doing the email thing. Damon is over here getting the business from Ms. Katie. I have to say, he looks better than I thought with a mohawk. More tomorrow on my day off!!

Robert:

I need sleep. I was trucking along so smoothly up until about 1:30 or so when it all crashed. It's going to be one of those nights.... which is a drag because i betcha $5 and a bag of sunchips that the second funniest SNL cast member, Rachel Dratch, shows up to do the Armando improv set tonight at Improv Olympic. The OP machine may be sleeping in, but if you're looking for something to do, this would be a good idea.

I'll take those rosary bleeds... and stuff em up your nose... These bleeds?

Zzzzzzz. wha- who the? what?

That reminds me. I have to send out my rent check. What fun.

This is such a Monday. Two more days and i get my new bed.

Robert:

Woohoo. I love being productive. I admit, I'm one of the worlds best procrastinators, but when you finally dig in and start working on something, it kinda feels good, doesn't it? ... I've also cut down on my complaining, which has done wonders for my moods during the day. If I don't audibly complain, I just can't help but feel better about whatever it is i would have complained about. I'm not even going to complain about writing in circles and pointless run-ons. How bout that.

Actually, I think i'm going to reserve my complaints for this here blog. That is what it was started for, and by golly, i plan on sticking to the morals and traditions that my grandfather upheld when he started this website way back in 1931. Apparently, he had a lot to complain about back then. It's a shame no one could afford high-tech computers, though. I think they still added by abacus.

Tangent. A friend was showing his grandfather his new laptop. His grandfather studied it for a second and said, "Oooh, that's mighty nice. Can you do math on that thing?"

Footnotes. I know they are popular on other blogs, but i just don't subscribe to the hype. Unless I'm reading Infinite Jest (and i still am. should be done by 2112.), one bookmark is enough for me thank you very much. My grandfather laid out the "one bookmark" laws way back in 1927, and by golly, i plan on sticking to his tried and true program.

Dagnabit.

Fable. Somewhere between a late night party on Racine and my morning cup of jojo, i misplaced my cell phone. I thought that since i had been complaining about it so much lately, i purposely lost it... But no such luck. We tore apart the moving van and both of my rooms to no avail. So while i was dragging the van's shag carpet one last time, her cell phone rang. I answered it. I had it on me and was trying to call my phone and listen for any random hidden vibrations... "Hello?" "Hello." "I found your cell phone." "Where?" "Up north." "What?" "North. um, Barry or something." ... Long story short. Some guy found it, and called someone in my phone number book to find me! Pretty sweet. So I met him this morning to get it back. I brought him some donuts. He liked that. I still hate my phone.

Moral of the story: don't move.

183 Pass the Dutchie - Musical Youth

A few things...

There has been some confusion over the dates that we are playing in California. Well - confusion no more! - we just got the final list (along with the bus rules, see June 29 post) and it goes-a-little-sumtin-like-this: August 10 in Santa Cruz. August 11 in San Francisco. August 17 in LA. And there you have it. See you there.

Second of all, if you send an email to one of our "heymercedes.com" accounts and it gets sent back to you, just send it again. For some reason it gets finnicky... but it will certainly work the second time.

and ninth of all, i/we don't really check m'email too often over the weekends (especially when moving), so don't be offended if i/we wait until monday to respond...

what a great song.

Losing things. Awesome.

Todd:

Happy July! Just hanging out procrastinating cleaning the house. Listening to Seam. I was looking for a link to this LP cover art and discovered there are two different ones? Huh? Does 'The Pace is Glacial' CD have different art than the LP? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

Hey Dan, are you having a lil' BBQ on Wednesday for the holiday? Beautiful day on the back porch sounds fine. Let me know.. I'll bring these if you need me too.

Where has Dan been anyways? Ain't seen you on here for awhile. You alive buddy?
